A closer look at one area of the Executive Technology Flywheel: Business & Technology Alignment.

A more detailed, self-reported view of whether technology priorities, investment choices, decision rights, and executive visibility remain connected to the business outcomes that matter most.

16 questions. Self-reported and directional, like the readiness assessment: more detail, not more assurance.

For a view across all six areas, take the Executive Technology Readiness Assessment.

About this assessment

Who it is for

The assessment is most useful for leaders who need a clearer starting point for a technology decision: CEOs, COOs, CFOs, CIOs and CTOs, executive directors, owners, board and risk leaders, and operating executives.

It can be especially useful when:

  • Technology priorities, costs, or tradeoffs are becoming harder to explain or defend.
  • AI, cybersecurity, modernization, or vendor decisions are creating uncertainty across more than one part of the organization.
  • Growth, acquisition, leadership change, or a strategic reset has changed what the business needs from technology.
  • The executive team wants to know whether a deeper professional assessment would create value.

What to expect

  • About 10 minutes and 24 questions across six areas.
  • No technical knowledge required.
  • Not sure is a valid answer and is excluded from maturity scoring rather than counted as a weakness.
  • You receive a written readiness view immediately, organized by domain rather than a single headline score.
  • You can stop and return later on the same device.

What this assessment is and is not

This is a self-reported, directional screening tool. It does not independently verify your answers. The maturity bands are Mickom’s interpretation of those responses, not an industry ranking, peer benchmark, certification, or assurance opinion.

It is not the professional Technology, AI & Cybersecurity Executive Assessment, an audit, vulnerability assessment, compliance attestation, penetration test, or substitute for stakeholder interviews, evidence review, and professional judgment.

Use the result to identify areas worth attention and questions worth investigating. A low result does not establish a deficiency, and a strong result does not assure that a risk is fully addressed.

Your information

To produce and address your result, the assessment asks for your name, work email, organization, role, and responses. Limited technical and operational information needed to run, secure, and troubleshoot the site is also recorded as described in the Privacy Notice.

Completing the assessment does not subscribe you to a marketing list. If you indicate that you are open to a conversation about your result, Mickom may use the contact information you provided for that follow-up. Assessment responses are not sold to data brokers, and identifying results are not published or used as public proof without permission.

Common questions

Common questions

Is there a charge?

The current Executive Technology Readiness Assessment and published domain deep dives are available at no charge. The professional Executive Assessment and advisory work are separate, paid engagements.

Should more than one executive take it?

Where it is useful, yes. Each person should respond independently, from what they know and what the organization can rely on today.

Differences between executives can surface questions about visibility, alignment, ownership, or decision rights. Responses are not averaged into a company maturity score, and differences are not treated as verified findings.

Is the assessment based on NIST, ISO, or another framework?

Public research and standards informed the questions, and the sources are listed on the Methodology page. The assessment does not claim alignment with, conformance to, or certification against any framework, and none of those organizations has reviewed or endorsed it.

Is there anything I should not enter?

Yes. Do not include passwords, credentials, detailed vulnerability information, or regulated personal information anywhere in the assessment or feedback. The questions are written to be answered at an executive level.
