Judgment built by operating, advising, and building

I have recommended technology decisions as an advisor and carried them as an operator. The second seat changed how I do the first.

Advice is easier to give when someone else has to fund it, staff it, live with it, and explain it to the board a year later. I have been on that side of the table, and it is the reason Mickom works the way it does.

Executive Operator

As CEO of WMI Worldwide, I built and led a global services organization of more than 75 professionals across five countries with multimillion-dollar P&L responsibility. That seat teaches a particular discipline. Every technology decision has to be funded from somewhere, staffed by someone, and defended later.

Principal Consultant

More than 18 years across technology strategy, transformation, cloud, cybersecurity, operations, and enterprise AI. I start with the business position, separate the important issue from the visible one, and make the tradeoffs explicit.

The objective is not to produce more options. It is to help executives make a better decision about risk, investment, priority, operating model, and execution.

Hands-On Technologist & Product Builder

As Founder and Chief Technology Officer of TractionGRC, I have taken an AI-enabled cybersecurity and compliance platform from product strategy through architecture, development, governance, and go-to-market. Building keeps the advice honest. It is harder to overstate what a technology can do once you have had to make it work.

The practice

Mickom is my advisory practice. I lead and deliver Executive Assessment engagements personally. The work is deliberately contained: gather enough evidence and apply enough senior judgment to determine what matters and what the organization can realistically do next.

Implementation or continuing support is a separate decision. The client remains free to execute internally, select another provider, or consider an affiliated provider where appropriate and fully disclosed.

Independence and disclosure

I also lead WMI Worldwide, a technology consulting and delivery organization, and I am Founder and Chief Technology Officer of TractionGRC, an AI-enabled cybersecurity and compliance platform. I disclose both relationships at the start of every Executive Assessment.

Assessment fees are set independently of any implementation, technology, or product recommendation. Clients are under no obligation to use WMI Worldwide, TractionGRC, or any affiliated organization. If an affiliated product or service is included among the options considered, that relationship is identified in the recommendation itself.

The value of an assessment depends on the conclusions standing on evidence and professional judgment, not on a downstream sale.
